Field Day is just around the
corner. This is THE BIG ham event of the year and is always a lot of fun. Our event will be held at the Bon Air United
Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 1645 Buford Road, in Bon Air.
We are planning to have a number
of different rigs and antennas. We will have SSB, CW, and PSK-31 stations
and, maybe, a surprise or two.
As
in the past, we will have a GOTA (Get On The
Air)
station for use by hams who have been off the air for a long time or for
non-hams to try their hand at operating (supervised by a licensed ham, of
course). Hopefully, this experience may encourage them to join our ranks as
licensed operators. Further details at the meeting.
Also, we will have our annual
picnic for club members and their immediate family Saturday at 1:00 PM. We are asking the members to bring sandwiches or finger food plus a covered dish. How
good can it get? A weekend of friendly folks, good food and lots of QRM and
radio chatter. It doesn’t get any better!
The official start of Field Day
is 2:00 PM Saturday, and by then we should have everything ready to go.
We will then open the doors to the general public to see what ham radio is all
about. Invite your friends and neighbors to stop by after 2:00 PM.
We hope that all of our club
members will come out for the event. You don’t have to be a member of RARC or
even have a ham license to come and participate in this event. We will have
“coaches” to help those new to HF operations.
So, what are you waiting for? Invite your non-ham friends to come by any time after 2:00 PM Saturday, June 27!
