A GOTA (Get On The Air) HF station in operation for
visitors, Novices, Technicians, and inactive hams using call sign K4RKO
VHF and UHF stations were on the air for
demonstration.
An
information table was set up for those interested in getting into ham radio.
Club
call sign W4ZA this year
was used.
This years Field Day was a huge success. About 40 people turned out for the
club picnic. We had operators for all three shifts for round the clock
operation of station W4ZA.
But, the highlight of Field Day was having the CW Master his self, Mr. Ray
Roberts W4MYI set down at station W4ZA, take CW paddle in hand and make
the first of many Field Day contacts. Thanks Ray.
I wish to thank all the members of the Special Events Committee (Anthony,
Ron, Ricky and Tom) for all their hard work and effort in preparing
for Field Day. Also, I would like to thank the members of the Technical
Committee (Ron, Tom, Mike, Mac, Mel) for their input on the antenna setup
and for setting up the antennas for Field Day use. Also, I would like to
thank the ladies lead by Helen Ratcliff who worked on getting the food
and other items needed for the club picnic together.
I would also, like to thank Joe Mahoney KI4GAP of the Richmond Times
Dispatch for the wonderful picture of Ray and friends that appeared in the
Sunday June 27,2004 Richmond Times Dispatch.
And of course, thanks to those of you who donated radio equipment and came
out to operate and support Field Day.
Note, Ron Farley (KG4QIV) will be putting pictures of Field Day on the club
web site, if you have any you would like posted on the club web site, please
send them to
KG4QIV@ARRL.NET.
